Well, after my taste of the remote
Trans-Taiga Road, I continued my journey back south along the
James Bay Road. There's not a lot of spectacular scenery in
this part of the country. It's all part of what's referred to as
the James Bay Lowlands. But once in a while, there's a rocky
outcrop. |
|
|
Ripe juicy blueberries! All you
can eat! They were delicious. :) |
|
|
I didn't just drive and drive for
5 days. I stopped frequently to photograph the scenery, and also
to examine and photograph the plants. Here's some interesting
lichens. |
|
|
And although I've been studying
goldenrods this summer and fall, I couldn't figure out for sure
what type this is. Yes, most people would settle for simply
knowing that it's goldenrod!
(And, no, goldenrod does *NOT* cause hay fever). |

I camped near the beginning of the
James Bay Road that night. The next morning was bright and
sunny. Figures!! I've been up here on four trips now and it's
been cloudy or raining every time. And on the last day of this
trip it gets sunny, and I have to hit the road and drive 1050 km
home!!
Yes, I do like driving! :)
Hopefully one of these years I'll get to make a trip up here
when it's bright and sunny every day! Altogether on this trip
I traveled 3570 km over 5 days. |

Well, that's all for this trip. Thanks for sharing it with me in this way!
Your comments are welcome.
If you want to see more of this remote region of Canada, there's tons
more photographs and movies on this website. Go back to the
HOME PAGE to explore further.
Or better yet, take a trip up here. There's detailed travel
information about the roads on this website (that's right, go to the
HOME PAGE). Better go soon... the
awesome spectacle of the rapids on the
Rupert River will be greatly
diminished in a few years.
And remember, due to the distances involved, you really do have to
love driving to make a trip up here! And love the remote country, with
little else but mile upon mile of forest. And silence.
Thanks for visiting! THIS CONCLUDES
