Km 521
Km 574 - it's raining more ...
This is the hydro-electric generating station at Brisay - this is at km 582 of the Trans-Taiga Road.

At this point I was 658 km from the nearest town!

The road goes a bit further, to km 666, but requires a 4-wheel-drive vehicle, which I didn't have. So this is the effective end of the road for ordinary vehicles.

From here the only thing to do is turn around and go back the way you came - 582 km of gravel road.

Notice the forest here, how widely spaced the trees are. That's because of both the latitude (how far north you are here) and the altitude.

Around here is the farthest north you can drive in eastern Canada.

Couple more pictures at Brisay...
And this is the generating station at Brisay.
Heading back west it poured rain for the rest of the day, till late afternoon. I camped at the campground at km 203 for the night.
